A: Dark brown blotches on buff, crowded toward the head in the Louisiana Pinesnake; reddish-brown to chestnut saddles edged in black in the Slowinski's Cornsnake. B: No stripe through the eye; a small pointed head in the Louisiana Pinesnake; a dark stripe from the eye back past the corner of the jaw in the Slowinski's Cornsnake.
