Mottled Snake-eyed Skink vs. Dark-flecked Garden Sunskink
Both are small, shiny, quick skinks found on every main island. A: No movable eyelids: it never blinks in the Mottled Snake-eyed Skink; a movable lower eyelid: it blinks in the Dark-flecked Garden Sunskink. B: A pale silvery stripe along each side of the back in the Mottled Snake-eyed Skink; bronze back, a dark band down each side, nothing pale in the Dark-flecked Garden Sunskink. The Snake-eyed Skink lives on sunny shore rocks and trunks; the Sunskink in leaf litter and lawns.
