Compare two species

Northern Cricket Frog vs. Blanchard's Cricket Frog

These are very hard to tell apart and are separated mainly by range. Where you need more: (1) Range first. (2) Hind-foot webbing: on a Northern the webbing is slightly reduced, leaving 1.5 to 2 joints of the long fourth toe free; on a Blanchard's it is more extensive, leaving only 1 to 1.5 joints free. (3) The rear thigh stripe: on a Northern it is a clean, continuous dark stripe, sharply bordered by pale cream or yellow skin; on a Blanchard's it is ragged or broken, and the dusky area of the thigh runs into it. Blanchard's is also slightly larger and bulkier.
