Ocmulgee Slimy Salamander vs. Mole Salamander
Mole Salamanders breed in the same Coastal Plain floodplains as the Ocmulgee Slimy; both are dark with pale marks. A: An ordinary head on a long, slim body in the Ocmulgee Slimy Salamander; a huge, broad head on a short, stout body in the Mole Salamander. B: Separate small white spots, bold on glossy black in the Ocmulgee Slimy Salamander; faint grey or blue-grey flecks in the Mole Salamander. A slimy salamander leaves glue-like slime on the fingers. Mole Salamanders are found mostly in winter, walking to ponds on rainy nights.
