The Ornate Tree Lizard is a small, slim lizard of the canyons near Flaming Gorge that climbs rock faces and junipers. A: its back is mostly tiny grain-like scales, with bands of larger keeled scales running down it; the Prairie Lizard has large spiny scales all over the back. B: the Tree Lizard has a fold of skin right across the throat (the gular fold); the Prairie Lizard has no complete fold. Their ranges meet in the Southwest (not in Wyoming, where the Prairie Lizard is in the southeast).
