Reticulated Flatwoods Salamander vs. Marbled Salamander
Reticulated Flatwoods Salamanders and Marbled Salamanders both breed in autumn in the western Panhandle's flatwoods ponds. A: A net of thin grey lines on brownish black in the Reticulated Flatwoods Salamander; bold silvery-white crossbands in the Marbled Salamander. The Frosted Flatwoods Salamander, east of the Apalachicola, looks the same but frostier; the river tells them apart.
