Sonoran Coralsnake vs. Sonoran Shovel-nosed Snake
Both are small red, black and pale snakes of the Organ Pipe desert. The coralsnake is venomous. A: Cream or light yellow in the Sonoran Shovel-nosed Snake; black in the Sonoran Coralsnake. B: The red saddles do not reach the belly; the first black bands do not cross it in the Sonoran Shovel-nosed Snake; rings go all the way round the body in the Sonoran Coralsnake. Leave any red, black and yellow snake alone if unsure: the coralsnake's bite is dangerous.
