Flat-headed Salamander vs. Wolf Dusky Salamander

The Wolf Dusky comes up the Dan River into Henry and Patrick counties, where some streams hold both. A: Bold black marks on orange or brown, with two rows of plain patches in the Flat-headed Salamander; granite-like grey-brown speckling, thick dark lines along the stripe in the Wolf Dusky Salamander. B: Long, broad and flat in the Flat-headed Salamander; ordinary; the pale line from the eye to the jaw often weak in the Wolf Dusky Salamander. Where they meet, judge several animals from the stream, not one.
