Florida Green Watersnake vs. Brown Watersnake

Brown Watersnakes live in the same south Georgia rivers and swamps. A: Plain greenish-brown in the Florida Green Watersnake; rows of square dark blotches like a checkerboard in the Brown Watersnake. Only the Florida Green has a row of small scales between the eye and the lip scales. The Brown Watersnake basks on branches over the water; the Florida Green keeps to weedy, still water.
