Florida Mud Turtle vs. Eastern Mud Turtle
Florida and Eastern mud turtles meet in north Florida, near the Suwannee and Jacksonville. A: A small lower shell with a narrow bridge; wide strips of skin show round it in the Florida Mud Turtle; a big lower shell that closes the shell up in the Eastern Mud Turtle. The two are told apart mainly by the plastron; where they meet they mix (Buhlmann et al. 2017).
