Pigeon Mountain Salamander vs. Green Salamander
Green Salamanders share the rock crevices of Pigeon and Lookout mountains. A: Black with brassy flecks gathered into a band down the middle of the back in the Pigeon Mountain Salamander; green, lichen-like patches spread over the whole back in the Green Salamander. B: A round body and head in the Pigeon Mountain Salamander; a flat body and head for squeezing into thin cracks, with square toe tips in the Green Salamander. Both climb rock faces at night; the Green Salamander is smaller (to about 5.5 in).
