Reticulated Siren vs. Greater Siren
Graham et al. (2018) compared the new Reticulated Siren above all with the Greater Siren, the other huge siren of the region. A: Covered from the gills to the tail with a net of large, dark, irregular spots in the Reticulated Siren; grey to olive, at most small, scattered dots or flecks in the Greater Siren. B: Small and narrow for its size in the Reticulated Siren; big and broad in the Greater Siren. Count the grooves along the side: 38 to 42 on the Reticulated, 30 to 41 on the Greater.
