Speckled Kingsnake vs. Black Kingsnake
These two kingsnakes intergrade where they meet along the Mississippi valley, so many animals are in between. The Speckled Kingsnake has a yellow or white dot in the centre of nearly every scale and a yellow belly checkered with black. The Black Kingsnake is mostly black, with small pale spots on only some scales, often in faint crossbands, and a mostly black belly.
