Woodhouse's Toad vs. Fowler's Toad

Woodhouse's and Fowler's toads were once one species and still hybridise where they meet. Both have a pale back stripe, parotoids that touch the crests, and a pale belly. Woodhouse's grows larger, to about 5 inches, and is the toad of western Iowa and the big river valleys; Fowler's reaches about 3 inches and is eastern. By ear, Woodhouse's gives a longer nasal 'waaah' like a sheep; Fowler's a shorter, harsher bleat.
