Atlantic Coast Leopard Frog vs. Southern Leopard Frog
Listen first. The Atlantic Coast Leopard Frog gives a single, short, distinct chuck; the Southern gives a rolling series of chucks, a guttural ak-ak-ak. By eye, look at the back of the thigh: the Atlantic Coast's is dark, with small, unconnected pale patches; the Southern's is lighter, a tan, olive or yellowish marbling. The Southern also has a bright white spot in the centre of the eardrum and a longer, more pointed snout; the Atlantic Coast's eardrum spot is dull or missing and its snout blunter.
