Collinses' Mountain Chorus Frog vs. Upland Chorus Frog
Pale Upland Chorus Frogs with broken stripes are easily confused with Collinses'; the Upland lives in nearby east Tennessee but has not been found with it in North Carolina (NC Parks). A: Two curved stripes bowed toward each other )(, broken marks, or none in the Collinses' Mountain Chorus Frog; three dark stripes or rows of spots straight down the back in the Upland Chorus Frog. B: A dark stripe through the eye ending just past the eardrum in the Collinses' Mountain Chorus Frog; a white upper lip under a dark stripe that runs on down the side in the Upland Chorus Frog. Go by the call: Collinses' gives a nasal 'wreak' about once a second; the Upland a rising trill like a thumb run along a comb.
