Mexican Treefrog vs. Green Treefrog
Both call from the resacas and ditches of the Lower Rio Grande Valley after rain. A: A broad dark brown band from the nostril through the eye to the shoulder in the Mexican Treefrog; a sharp white stripe along the lip and the side; no dark band in the Green Treefrog. B: A pale spot or bar on the upper lip below the eye in the Mexican Treefrog; the white stripe runs the whole length of the lip in the Green Treefrog. The Mexican Treefrog honks 'wonk-wonk'; the Green Treefrog calls 'quonk' like a cowbell.
