Relict Leopard Frog vs. Northern Leopard Frog
Both are leopard frogs of the Colorado River country of northwestern Arizona and the Virgin River area; the Northern is the only Arizona leopard frog with unbroken folds. A: Broken, and turned in towards the middle near the rear in the Relict Leopard Frog; complete: run unbroken from behind the eye to the hips in the Northern Leopard Frog. B: Usually no dark spot on the snout in the Relict Leopard Frog; one big dark spot on the snout in the Northern Leopard Frog. The Relict Leopard Frog is now only at a few re-established springs near Lake Mead; it cannot be told from the Lowland Leopard Frog without genetics (Brennan).
