Pacific Chorus Frog vs. Boreal Chorus Frog
Two small chorus frogs that meet in northwestern Montana. A: both have a dark stripe through the eye, but the Pacific Chorus Frog's stops at the shoulder, while the Boreal Chorus Frog's continues along the side toward the groin. B: the Boreal Chorus Frog usually has three dark stripes or rows of spots down the back; the Pacific Chorus Frog has irregular blotches, often a dark triangle between the eyes, and may be bright green. The Pacific Chorus Frog has larger toe pads. Calls differ: a two-part 'rib-it' (Pacific) vs a rising trill like a thumb run along a comb (Boreal).
