Great Plains Toad vs. American Toad

The Great Plains Toad has large, symmetrical, paired dark blotches down the back, each outlined in pale, and cranial crests that run forward and meet in a hard boss on the snout. The American Toad has smaller scattered dark spots holding one or two big warts, crests that stay apart, and a spotted chest. By ear: the Great Plains Toad gives a deafening jackhammer trill; the American a sweet musical one.
